Frank Lloyd Wright built Taliesin, his famous home and school, in the hills of southwest Wisconsin. Local builders, including Tim Gehrmann and his father, were hired to turn Wright's revolutionary concepts into reality. From soaring rooflines that defied gravity to inlaid patterns in the furnishings, Wright's designs challenged craftsmen like the Gehrmanns to use conventional and non-conventional materials and methods in fundamentally new ways.
